It was the same way in NC for a while.  No tandems allowed.  Then the Feds 
said you have to allow them on the Federal highways (interstates and US 
routes).   Last I heard it was still that way.  No tandems on State highways 
or rural routes in NC.  We really don't see many tandems here even on the 
interstates.
