Here in bureaucratic-heavy New York State (outside of NY City) handgun permit applications are handled by the county judges. Unfortunately, those judges that lean toward being anti-gun have complete power over whether a person gets a permit or not, despite a clean record and thorough background check

Forget getting a gun permit of any kind in NYC, unless you're an elected official or a**hole buddies with the top dogs down there.
